My project today is one of my favorites! It is an altered notebook. This time of the year you can pick these up for next to nothing. I think I paid 25 cents for mine at Walmart!!

<img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8A0bw_NVVzTK9ve9Z2nlCthoBf7WGEtTUQd_cCQyXiG6DGpmkY4ZMehfz9TZfbkqFalf69bsvr5x07Dyckmg4V_WMEOB2zYFefLBcrPPCsZhIQRuRbxG9KGpRtUnC9rB0DrNd_crW1CDT/s320/IMG_0011.JPG" t$="true" width="238" />

I've made several of these in the past as gifts, but I decided to make one for myself to have at the beginning of my school year. They are so simple to do and depending how elaborately decorated you want it, they are relatively fast to make. The black printed paper is from the Grade School paper pack from DCWV. I used Hello Kitty Greetings for the stack of books cut at 5 1/2 inches. I added a white shadow, but made it about a half inch smaller and inked the edges so it didn't look so huge! I used the Hello Kitty Font for my last name cut at 1 1/4 inches. I used my Gypsy to weld the shadow feature in the same light blue cardstock as the middle book. The top letters are in the same yellow cardstock as the top book. I used the Cuttlebug folder Polka Dots to emboss the apple and red mat under my name. I used green cardstock as the bottom mat that matches the bottom book. I added some doodle dots with my black gel pen on my name and a little bit of lime green stickles on the leaf of the apple. I used Stickables Franklin sticker letters to add titles to my books. (These are the subjects I teach.) My favorite part of this notebook is the cute ruffled ribbon I found in my stash. I used glue dots along the seam of the paper and edge to add the ribbon. I used my iRock to add big rhinestones to the side and teeny tiny rhinestones on the red background paper. The back of the notebook is just a printed paper from the same Grade School paper pack, but no other cuts were added to the back. (I forgot to take a picture of that.) This project will also be My Sheri Crafts Back to School Challenge.
Since I am a Fourth Grade teacher, I thought it would be fun to do this Back To School Blog Hop hosted by Michelle at Queen of my Craftroom. Both of my projects are for my classroom, but can be adapted to any child that is going back to school.

You should have come from Andrea's Coffee Time. If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop, then head over to Queen of my Craftroom and join in the fun! We have 3 sponsors: Karbar Digital Stamps, Jen's Digi Stamps, and Hambo Stamps. Each sponsor is giving away a digi stamp. There will also be blog candy along the way, so sit back and enjoy all the creative ideas that these talented ladies are sharing!

My project for today's is a class set of bookmarks. My theme for my classroom this year is Hollywood: Lights, Camera, Action!.

<img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2deI9xLpnELUza0uhdHJOw0LA_hYeXnX-iZB0KPg9oVoYtXIsL87-JoTnlNsN1trrmOCDBpkHzw670su3zB59zpuBYGTn-ZKXBKVt0KHupVgs9fxwdm4pBOaphft3DcG1hyphenhyphenqLz-_Lvj8v/s320/IMG_0004.JPG" t$="true" width="320" />

<img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrjwTSkmAEDfrqT3WZTGmOd3Tae_ILMMCdHAJ1hiNa6-clC2cIUDttzLQmZ-X4XXDtyDM9QMqbNbL_XXwt0if89xyVO8ctf5fic3odXHQqEGiYUlstE8IyV3obgHqFVveVVlr-o4d1UUpT/s320/IMG_0005.JPG" t$="true" width="320" />

I made these personalized bookmarks by using the George and Basic Shapes cartridge. Using my Gypsy, I welded a 1 3/4 x 5 1/2 rectangle and star together in black cardstock. I added another rectangle cut at 5 3/4 x 1 1/2 out of red cardstock. (To save time, I just used my paper trimmer to cut these out.) I added the 3 x 2 3/4 yellow star to the top of the bookmark. I used the Cindy Loo cartridge to add the words You're a star! The letters were 3/4 inches in height. Again, I used my Gypsy to weld the letters together. I used my while jelly pen to add dots to the phrase and personalized the stars using a black gel pen for my students' names. Lastly, I trimmed the star with gold stickles. Once I'm back to school I will laminate these and hand them out the first day of school.

There are so many ways you could do different bookmarks for you own child. Throughout the school year I will make more bookmarks using seasonal cartridges, Locker Talk, and my favorite cartridge, Create a Critter just by changing out the star topper. Be sure to check back tomorrow to see my next project! Now, hop on over to Kimberly's Crafty Spot.
Karli was at mother's day out and a friend came over to crop with me. We talked a lot and stopped long enough to have lunch so I only managed to get a 2 spread layout done and a birthday card (post & pics coming soon). I know, I know, you are thinking 4 hours and that's all you got done! Yep! I'm slow and still trying to learn my Cricut Expression 2.

Recently I came across 4x6photosketchblog that has tons of great layout designs, all using 4x6 pictures. I really hate cutting pictures down so this was an exciting discovery! This is a blog I will be visiting a lot when I am scrapbooking. I went back to a post on March 13 to find a layout that I wanted to use. I changed up the second page layout a little bit since it had 2 verticle pics and I only had one I wanted to use. After taking this picture I realized I had forgotten to journal in the empty pink space. I was too lazy to take another picture after I had journaled! :) TFL
I am submitting it for My Pink Stamper's Design Team. She asked us to create something using our favorite Cricut cartridge and using the colors turquoise, orange, brown and green. This was the first time I made a longer card of this type. I loved how this card turned out (and my play on words)!! TFL
So, when he asked me to make a wedding card for a co-worker I knew just the cartridge to use.....Sweethearts!! I love the look of Tri-fold cards so I went to creating a special card for the bride and groom. I used the same color pink that was on their invitations, black cardstock and shiny silver cardstock for this beautiful card. I used the blackout feature to cut out the bride and groom. The groom was cut at a height of 5 inches and the bride at 4 1/2. I did have to change the width on my Gypsy to get her and her bouquet to fit properly on the back section. I used a few more icon cuts from this cartridge including the rings, a gift, the hearts and the words Love and Mr. & Mrs . I made a pocket from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More to hold the gift card. I used My Pink Stamper stamps for the Congratulations and On Your Wedding Day. Pop dots were used to add dimension to the word Love, the bow on the gift and the wedding rings. Of course I had to add diamond stickles for a little bling on the diamond ring. I also added pink stickles to make flowers on the bride's bouquet and diamond stickles for the ribbon hanging down. I used a white jelly pen to add our sentiment and names. TFL!!
(Maybe a little late, but I'm glad I discovered it!) Becky Fleck is the designer of the page maps and blog. She has some really great stuff on there! Also, she just happened to have a Best Creations Sketch Contest. I loved the layout and had some pictures on my desk for I don't know how long that I NEEDED to get on a page! Here is the sketch for the contest:

<img border="0" height="319" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsSPbIQfxfLfjwOdFg3CJp_HcBN-AjrCFzFKecJhwQ4dJ3IbdyJYebjq9uXyMd1LVFcGr2mu5-Ao5sfUGrWuYNv-bYtya-PBrSm-ZiDh573USqZ_WC0HRBQXcPuJcSdSOYBRS1sHmby7dv/s320/pagemaps+sketch.jpg" width="320" />

Since these were of Karli's first swim lessons, I knew I didn't want to use birds, but I could use fish. I went to my all-time favorite cartridge (Create a Critter) and decided to use, not only the fish, but the whale and the darling sea horses. Here is my creation based on Becky's sketch:

<img border="0" height="320" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuaFAzMTI9Lbu6HX9w0QGQ-Gm7BlDnWFrGkwUbkoR5OxhIEGt1gLvdZb0bI7SyUR6PLgszplqELgEP6QYMMIdzZbY0OfoFIIWYguFDVdzU-NsQJ2BJ2bT_b-wAJLBbLA1SvVVbzVaVpWpl/s320/swimlesson.JPG" width="318" />

I can never just do one page because I think a layout consists of two pages that share a common interest. I just so happened to have a 5x7 of Marcus's favorite picture (that he took himself) of Karli at swim lessons. I used a cute mat from Once Upon a Princess and added an extra fish and a momma sea horse with her two baby sea horses. Here is the other side of the layout:

<img border="0" height="320" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmiAVm-MJPtl9Os7dK1htO9wJeveQRvYD_AVL2rWoGTX_529rx879iETqTOfk0ZEYnMcfHaO3ZhRZTSSLCG0QuqZXncgoijMhP5lPyaBJiLiLIM0MUqJWyqd-hPpP4cMyiRnifw_02FhEe/s320/dads+fav.JPG" width="317" />

And here is the completed DOUBLE layout together.....journaling and all!!!
I am sure the kids will appreciate a little extra $$ even though it's been a month since graduation. Both cards are the Z Fold cards which were super simple to make. I just cut 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock in half, folded it in half and then folded the front flap back in half again. On both cards I used My Pink Stamper's Happy Graduation Stamp from the Happiest Moments stamp line.

<img border="0" height="213" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8qNry7fn9wVOozOccPrD156l563QoOrrJXZgsvWvnnEIslqJuqXck-AMB4cJiI53FeUMYJ9gqwu-5LEYO9EJ9xbz0tpt6tNFWpP7tl93swzvkec2QgbMeJ1XaUL2lzJFXCI1HDJb7Q7sP/s320/IMG_8987.JPG" width="320" />

For the Hello Kitty card I used Hello Kitty Greetings and usedthis weeks Peachy Keen Challenge as my inspiration. I cut Kitty at 5 1/2 inches (it may have been only 5). I added the silver paper cut at 1/4 inches smaller. I used the Martha Stewart Bubble Punch on the inside silver paper and added a silver ribbon to the front flap. There is a pocket behind the Hello Kitty to hold the money. Of course I added a little stickles for some sparkle and called it done!

<img border="0" height="213" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFra4y80Q_-VCIu9AuNT88JPm2jZti_47A4uCz4VdD_dbAIq0zWyezB_GfiNqBezA4nVwfD3AnAFxP1-vg_4LMfZ77aJNYr8uFqqMPpxbX85ky0-HfxbFybcXr0hwJsuobYnDMOrev8DAV/s320/IMG_8989.JPG" width="320" />

For the second card, I went with a simpler approach. I cuttlebugged the top part of the card using the stars and inked them. I used the Wild Card graduation cap card for the front but cut off one side of the card so it was no longer a card. (Did that make any sense at all?!) I used Tags Bags Boxes and More for the tag on the front and stamped Congratulations from the same stamp line mentioned above. I attached the tag with brads. On the inside I cut the round star shape using the icon function of the graduation cap card and added the phrase function that reads Class of. For the inside I made a simple pocket to hold money using Tags Bags Boxes and More. Since this card is for a young man, I left off stickles! :)
She preformed two dances and did a fabulous job. She danced one ballet routine and the other was tap. Of course when there is a dance recital there are always flowers! I knew her Grammy and Aunt Kimmie would bring her flowers, so I wanted to do a more creative bouquet of flowers. I remembered making my neighbor girls all silk rose hair clips for Christmas and how easy they were to make. I ordered some clear tubes for Skittles and M&Ms and went to making 24 silk rose flower clips for all the dancers in Karli's class. I had some willing fourth graders cut out lots of circles of fabric for me the last week of school, so putting them together was a cinch! Another mom has been making other flower clips for her daughter and agreed to make another 24 for the dancers. (She did the zebra & pink leopard print flowers) We tied 4 candy tubes with the flowers clipped to the top together with a simple bow and I added a Dance Recital tag from Twinkle Toes Lite Cartridge. These were a little less than $1 each to make and they turned out adorable!!
I didn't get much accomplished today, but I did manage get a couple of challenges done! I should have updated my new Cricut Expression 2 before I started, because I spent half the night battling with my cuts and then spent the other half updating my Gypsy and new E2.

I made 73 explosion purses last week with my fourth graders to take home to their moms for Mother's Day. These little purses were found at Qbees Quest. By Friday I was about to pull my hair out, but when I saw them all completed I knew the moms will LOVE them!! So, when Robyn, aka My Pink Stamper, had a Mother's day challenge today, I knew I could make a couple of these super quick. We took lots of family pictures on Easter so they worked perfectly inside the purses. I got to use Robyn's Happiest Moments stamp set for the sentiment on the front of the purse. I added some embellishments, pictures and of course a little bling and called it done!

Here are the two I made today for this challenge:

I told a friend I would make her a fun card to give away to someone. I hadn't used the Smiley Card cartridge yet so I picked out this funny kissey fish. The fish was cut at 4.5 inches wide. I cuttlebugged the light blue background paper as well as one part of the fish. I stickled the lips with diamond stickles, eyeliner with black diamond and added a little sparkle to the fins with a light blue. The fish was attached with a action wobble and the MUAH was popped up with small pop dots. The inside sentiment is from My Pink Stampers line of stamps called More Punnylicious. I love this card because it makes me laugh!!
Her dog has been under the weather and her veterinarian has been really gone out of her way to help them out. I was excited to use my FAVORITE cartridge, Create a Critter for this card. While browsing some blogs during the weekend I came across a "Love Your Pet" blog hop at Scrapbookaholic by Abby. Did you know that the month of April is the "month against animal cruelty" and ASPCA encourages to "Go Orange" to show your support. So this was my inspiration for her card. I am submitting this card for Abby's challenge #3.

I used a brown base cut at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. The orange background paper is cut at 4 x 5 1/4 and the dog was cut at 3 1/2. I tied a little orange ribbon around the background paper and of course I added a little bling with my iRock on her personalized collar and word Ruff. I added Black Diamond stickles to her eyes and nose and donned her with a purple hair bow to match her purple collar. The inside sentiment comes from my newest stamp set Fabulous Phrases from none other than My Pink Stamper.

I never posted any of my daughter, Karli's 4th birthday pics, so even though I didn't do the banner and goodie bags over the weekend, my challenge was to get them up on my blog for my friends to see!! So here it is!!

I made this adorable banner using the Mini-Monograms cartridge. Poor cartridge hadn't been used in forever, but it was perfect for her ladybug themed birthday party!! I used Tags, Bags, Boxes and More for the popcorn box to hold party favors and used Paisley for the ladybugs.
It took me a little longer than I expected, but did them in stages. I started with a toilet paper roll. I measured around it to cut my paper. I used the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder to emboss the paper then added it to the TP tube with my adhesive. (Maybe should have used hot glue because the paper kept coming off until I put ribbon around it.) I filled the tubes with some candy and heart-shaped erasers. I just folded in the ends and tied a cute little ribbon around it. Slapped a heart that was stamped with Happy Valentine's Day from the Happiest Moments stamp set from My Pink Stamper and called it quits! I did add a pencil that was disguised as an arrow, but forgot to take a picture of that. At one end was 2 hearts and the other end was the end of an arrow (both cut from the Sweethearts cartridge). Sad I didn't take a picture of the finished product. They turned out ADORABLE!!
Recently I had THE BEST strawberry cupcakes (with strawberry icing) at a work luncheon. Come to find out, it was a Paula Deen recipe. So, you know I'm telling you the truth when I say it was the best!!! Well, since we were snowed in AGAIN today, I had plenty of time to make a delicious Weight Watcher's Potato Soup recipe and these amazing tasty treats. I did change it up a bit since I didn't have strawberry extract, but I used almond extract instead. (I usually add almond extract to all my cake batters to give it a little kick.) Also, I used frozen strawberries without syrup. I added a little extra strawberry puree to my icing and only used 4 1/2 cups of powered sugar. (I had TONS of icing left over after icing 36 cupcakes.) Before delivering the heavenly cupcakes to my neighbors, I cut out hearts and cupids from the Sweethearts cartridge (cut at 2 1/2 inches), attached them to toothpick and added them to the tops of the cupcakes. We enjoyed our strawberry dessert after our healthy dinner. YUMMO!!

I made them for Karli to take to her friends at daycare and a couple extra for my 2 helpers at school. I cannot take credit for the idea, so I will give credit where credit is due. Pam, over at P-Kay Sunshine Creations made the Cricut Chirp newsletter with her adorable creations. While she added ribbon and computer generated sentiments, I put my personal touch on mine by adding Stickles *my fave* and My Pink Stamper stamps *another fave*. Robyn has created several stamp sets that pair perfectly with the Create a Critter cartridge as well as other cricut cartridges. I used the Punnylicious, More Punnylicious, and Everyday Occasions stamps. Click here to see her retailers and product line. (If you click on a picture you can see them in more detail.)
The first Doily Card (pg. 52) is from the Wild Card cartridge. I selected my favorite colors for this card! I used Fit to page for the envelope which was 6" (I think!!). I set my dial at 6" for the rest of the cuts on the card. For the "Thanks" I used the phrase on page 42 and cut it at 1 inch (real dial size selected). This card was made for my sweet neighbors that brought me some Blackberry Wine for my birthday. YUMMO!

I made 2 of the next cards which were made from Create-a-Critter. I used a pre-made card and added the red strip (cut at 2 inches) and the lady bug cut at 3 inches. I love my Martha Stewart Loops punch so much that I had to use it on the top and bottom of the red strip of card stock. I added a little bit of stickles to the heart and spots on her wings. Her antennae was blinged up with my I-Rock. The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper's Simply Sweet Occasions. These two cards are off to school with me. One is for the other 4th grade teacher I teach with. She got me a great canvas, monogrammed bag and the other card is for a student that brought me a cable-knit scarf and flowers for my birthday. I love my little ladybug card!! It turned out ADORABLE!!

I did get this double layout finished last weekend though and I think it turned out pretty cute. I have about 4 more double layouts to do to scrap all my January 2010 pics. Most of the cuts (except the snowflakes) were from the Winter Frolic cartridge. The snowflakes were from Joys of the Season. I added a journal box in the bottom corner so I can add the details about our fun day in the snow. Of course I had to add stickles for a little sparkle on the girl sledding and snowflakes. I love how the dots I added to the words remind me of the snow!
Friday night during the live Ustream video, Robyn announced her design team. There were over 300 hundred entries submitted. She selected 7 designers from the entries and hand picked the rest for a total of 20 Pink Designers. She had 8 honorable mentions and I am proud to say that I was one of them. I happened to be there with Robyn during her live stream and she asked if I was sad not being selected for the actual design team. Honestly, I am kind of relieved!! Not only is it a lot of work and the term lasting 6 months, but I have just started back to college to work towards my masters degree!! (Tonight was my first night!) Robyn was so kind in letting the honorable mentions choose one of her stamp sets or DVDs. I chose her Cricut Layouts Throughout the Year DVD and it is FABULOUS!!! I am so glad I chose that since my New Year's goal of completing my 2010 album this year. I always knew I loved her work, but REALLY, she blew me away with these layouts. I can't wait to get started. My January pictures are ready to be picked up tomorrow and I hope to get started on them some time this week. So keep checkin' back and see my creations inspired (or copied) by the Pink Stamper!!
I am going to get the entire year of 2010 scrapped before 2011!!! That might not sound like much to some of you, but I have some major catching up to do. I'm not even half way through Karli's 2008 pictures! :( I have decided to put that on the backburner and I've set a plan into action! I will scrap January '10 pictures this month, February '10 pics in February, March '10 pics in March and so forth. At the beginning of each month I will print off only that month's pictures of last year. Once I am caught up for that month, THEN I will go back to my '08 pictures and work forward. I even thought about doing 2009 and 2010 simultaneously, but I might never get my 2008 pictures done. I want to hear your goal for the new year. Anyone care to join me on my crafting goal for 2011? Thoughts &/or comments are welcomed!Kerrihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12615688246178759430noreply@blogger.com4
